The Baby Cathedral...

Fr John calls our little boy's incubator his baby cathedral. The hospital has volunteers that make the preemies blankets and hats. The nurses stretched the blanket over top of the bed to block some of the sun from the window and it makes such a pretty stained glass effect inside. We put a hand-painted icon of a Guardian Angel written by Paul Drozdowski, a picture of Sugar Plum and Little Man, and a little painting that Little Man did (Sugar Plum is working on a drawing of our family) inside. The nurses and doctors encourage things like that which is so nice:) A lot of the nurses that are caring for our baby are the same ones that took care of Little Man for three weeks. It is neat catching up with them and introducing Little Man to them now that he is a big and strong two-a-half-year-old.

I'm so glad when people put icons in/on their babies incubators or bassinets in the hospital. For one thing, it reminds the caregivers that ultimately, this baby is in the keeping of God.

Praying for your family during this time, how hard on your momma spirit this must be torn with your two blessings at home needing their momma love and care and then this new lil one needing you too...

It must be of some comfort to know that your baby boy is being watched over and prayed for by the saints. We will continue to pray.

The icon certainly helps the "baby cathedral" look. My sister was able to do the same thing when her little ones were in the NICU. Praying you'll be bringing your little one home soon.

I love how you are bringing home to him. I have been so busy, but I do hope you will call on me if you need anything!

I've never seen a lovelier and more peaceful isolette! I continue to pray for your little baby boy. Isn't it wonderful that we have our loving Christ Jesus, our Savior and healer?

We are praying for you... our "little one" who is now 4, spent 4 weeks in the NICU. In our parish, we have a NICU nurse and she told us to bring in icons and family pictures, books to read (Guess how much i love you?), and even a cd of music that we could play quietly. Those nurses are amazing people- not only do they tend to these babies- but they tend to the families. Do they allow your children in? they wouldn't allow our oldest in to visit his brother which I understood but also wished that big brother could have a chance to see his baby brother before he came home.

Wonderful that you are able to all that for your new baby. I can feel a lot of love going in his direction.

God Bless,
