What are the pictures in the frames on the wall? Are they icons?

Looks great! Do your kids have any plastic toys? We have friends that only allow natural toys for their children.

Hey Michelle!

No, they aren't icons. They are framed fairytale postcards. I got them through Nova Naturals. Go to the Living section, Decor, and they are on the third page - elsaesser fairy tales postcard set

Hi Melinda,

My little ones have very few plastic toys (most of them are outside toys like bikes, buckets, shovels, etc.). We were just starting to get toys for our daughter when the lead in plastic started to come out in the news and decided to purchase mostly wood toys. Besides safety reasons, I like that very few of them require batteries, they are natural and aesthetically pleasing, they encourage imaginative play, and they will last through out children and most likely even for our grandchildren. I was just requested to do a toy post, so I'll explain more when I do that... maybe within the next few days.

Oh, we don't freak out if the kids receive something that is plastic or if our children play with plastic. If we are buying something though, natural materials are what we look for.
Our families are pretty great about it though... they buy books, ask us what the kids need/want, give gift certs.,or get something that they think fits our toy philosophy.
