You Know You are Officially a Mother When...

... you request that your husband gets you new (better fitting!!) nursing bras for Valentine's Day instead of flowers. You know that you are still a woman though when you request this while secretly hoping that you get the flowers anyway!

a better question is where do you get good nursing bras?? A friend gave me one and I picked up one I like at Target...Didn't like anything at Motherhood..

Thanks :)

LOL! Sounds like something I would ask for. :)
Have you tried any Bravado Designs bras? They're great!

I told my husband I was going to order some more for this baby, and it would cost $100 for 4. He looked at me funny, like do you really need new ones? I reminded him of how much money we SAVE by nursing our children and not buying formula. All of a sudden, there was no problem at all!

Hi Jamie!

I think that I am going to try out Gap's nursing bras this time. I've gotten some from Target, Motherhood, and Walmart (when I was nursing our daughter) and not one fit me properly. I am hoping that the fourth time will be the charm;) I am well-endowed, so I have limited options, it seems.

Ha, ha! So true!
Might I suggest you look into a custom fit Colese Couture bra. I have worn nothing else for 10 years now and love them! They are a bit pricey, but think about it. If you buy 2 at $50 each, and take care of them (alternating them wash, wear, wash, wear, etc) they should last 2-3 years. It is not bad. And, because of the design of the bra can be used when you're nursing and when you're not.
I can give you tons of reasons for wearing these bras, but the best one, your "shirts" look better. Ummm, and maybe even a better reason, your husband will love the way you look!
Just my two cents.
Take care.

I thought I wrote out a reponse to this post with ideas for Jamie this morning, but it seems to have vanished!

The short version is that Glamourmom bra tanks and fantastic! They hold up incredibly well and fit wonderfully. They're great for modesty and keeping your midsection warm. I also have two different styles from Medela which are great too.

Emma, I've asked for nursing camis/tanks for two birthdays and this past Christmas! Very practical. :-)

Emma,

Let me know how the Gap bras are! I am well endowed as well and simply MUST try a bra on before purchasing...which is why i hesitate to order anything from a website or catalog.

People have suggested tank type bras and sport bra type bras and that just will not work for me!

Let me ask this question (and hopefully it isn't tmi) do any of you wear an underwire nursing bra? Is it to be avoided at all costs?

Thanks!
Jamie

Hi Jamie!

I have always had underwire nursing bras and have never had a problem. I really cannot imagine not wearing one without an underwire!

Emma,

I am SOOO glad to hear that. On an e mail list I am on the women are all doom and gloom about everything it seems at times...basically told me that underwire is the greatest evil there is when nursing.

I also can't imagine life without an underwire...but then I am strange and like my breasts to be where they are supposed to be.

I hope that wasn't too crude..if so feel free to edit me.
