Never Without Her Touch of Crimson...

"She stood just where the warm yellow light flooded her from the open door. She wore a plain dress of cheap, cream-tinted cotton voile, with the usual girdle of crimson. She had told Anne that she never felt satisfied without a gleam of red somewhere about her, if it were only a flower. "

I have begun to be aware that I have been dressing mainly in plain, neutral colors. This mostly has to do with the fact that I am not quite back into my "normal" clothing yet, but I am also a very boring dresser. When choosing something to add to my wardrobe, I often choose the plainly colored or patterned option so that it will work with more in my closet. The result is a very bland color scheme!

If you had a signature color - one that you tried to incorporate into your daily dressing - what would it be? I lean mostly toward the violet/gray blue category all months except January and February when I crave bluish-red!

I like darker colors, because I'm fair and anything too neutral really washes me out. I have a lot of dark browns, greens, blues and blacks. It's funny, I feel the "prettiest" in these colors, especially navy blue. I wish I could do more red, but it just never suits me 100%.

My children are always mocking my saying in my most Southern voice that my signature color is pink! (I am Southern, btw)I'd say pink covers about 50% of my wardrobe. It can be worn with so many different bottom colors.

I found that be googling "what colors to wear" or "personal color finder" I've come up with some sites that help me pinpoint what colors look best on me. I'm a fair skinned strawberry blond. So far, I've learned that wearing black will make me looked washed out and that brown or gray should be my black. I've learned that taupe isn't flattering to anyone's skin tone and that I look best in greens, blues and corals. As I've added and thinned my wardrobe this past year, I've tried to keep most things in the blue/green/gray scheme. It's a process...

My accent colors are typically soft pinks and blues, but my mother has ALWAYS encouraged me to buy red coats for winter.

It's such a nice perk during gray days!

I'm learning (it's about time) that pinks/burgundies are my best colors, especially as accent colors. Every time I wear them, someone gives me a compliment on my appearance. I, too, need to weed my wardrobe to reflect this.

I like light pink and burgundy and have probably had more compliments in those colors than any other. If I looked good in it, though, I might pick green. Alas

My signature color has always been brown -- the deeper and richer, the better. It was tough during the 80s and 90s when brown was nowhere to be found, but I have been enjoying the heck out of my favorite color for the past five years or so.

However, the bad news is that I'm gradually going grey. I refuse to color my hair, on the grounds that I once knew a woman with deep auburn hair and a face like an old apple, and I refuse to look like that. So I've decided that once my predominant hair color is grey, I will switch to burgundies -- you can usually find something in the rose/burgundy color scheme, and it's very flattering to grey hair. Not to mention dignified. ;-)

I'd have to say red, most of the time. You can do so much with red -- even if it's just a small pop of color -- like a scarf or just bright fun jewelry. It's somewhat confidence-boosting, too, I think.

thanks for sharing such a great blog with the world!

When I choose something to add to my wardrobe, I am always drawn to the green/blue/teal/turquoise hues of things. I have to remind myself sometimes that I need a little more variety. (I can't remember if I've commented here before, but I am an occasional reader and enjoy your blog.)

My signature color is actually a range of tinted and shaded orange-reds: pink, coral, and maroon.

I love color! It's so much fun to think about!
